Mike brings to Artel more than 20 years of executive leadership experience spanning Telecommunications, Military/Defense, Automotive, and High Technology markets. Prior to joining Artel, Mike provided strategic consulting for independent businesses and private equity firms focusing on CEO support, leadership succession, M&A advisory, corporate strategic planning, managing high growth, international expansion, and ESOP transition. Before consulting, Mike was President of Cylon Energy, the US Division of Cylon Controls, Dublin, Ireland leading a hyper growth and acquisition strategy. Prior to Cylon Energy, he served 18 years at Schleuniger Inc., as President and Managing Director for North and Latin American markets. Mike has also served on various Corporate Boards and Industry Association Boards throughout his career.
Tom Fyfe, Vice President of Finance
Tom brings over 20 years of executive experience in the areas of business management, strategic planning, business finance, and business control functions. Prior to joining Artel, Tom was Controller and CFO of Lyrix, Inc. which specialized in unified voice communication software as a service (SaaS) where he lead all merger, acquisition, and divestiture activities, was responsible for all HR activities, and negotiated all the contracts with Fortune 500 customers. Tom has a Business Administration degree from Northeastern University with a major in Accounting..
Jeff Masucci, Chief Technology Officer
Jeff brings to Artel more than 20 years of entrepreneurial leadership and strategic planning experience developing innovative technologies and building world-class organizations. Jeff is an active member of Investors Collaborative, a strategic capital and equity organization, responsible for advising high-quality growth companies. Before consulting, Jeff was the Senior Director of Business Development at Motorola and Chief Technology Officer and Founder of Quantum Bridge Communications. As Senior Director, Business Development of Motorola Jeff led business development for the wireline business identifying, evaluating and acquiring cable and telecom technology and businesses to enhance the performance, improve margins and increase market share and revenue of Motorola’s video distribution, PON (Passive Optical Networks) and SDV (Switched Digital Video) businesses. At Quantum Bridge Communications Jeff led the development of Passive Optical Networking equipment for MSOs and broadband service providers. The systems developed by Quantum Bridge form the basis for Verizon’s FIOS service offering. Prior to Quantum Bridge, Jeff founded several marketing and technology companies that specialized in providing technology and marketing solutions for the telecommunications, cable TV and data communication industries. Also, Jeff served 9 years at AT&T Bell Laboratories where he held various roles in development, systems engineering, and product management. Jeff received an MBA from Boston University, M.S.E.E. Plasma Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BS in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He holds six patents in the field of communications.
Chris Riello, Vice President Product Development
Chris has more than 20 years of experience in directing large global engineering teams in the development of solutions for the telecommunications, broadcast, cable, internet, and other industries. Prior to joining Artel, Chris was Vice President of Engineering at Cambridge Technology, responsible for managing electrical, mechanical, optical, and software activities of the firm and created a research facility focused on new product development, strategic research initiatives, and new technologies. Previously, Chris held several positions at Sycamore Networks (now Coriant), a leading producer of optical switching equipment and network solutions for the telecommunications industry. As Vice President of Engineering, Chris led multi-disciplined engineering teams in the development of SONET, SDH, and PDH products for high reliability applications. Prior to this, as Director of Product Development for the Wireless Business Unit, and before that as Director of Software Engineering for the Optical Business Unit, Chris directed system architecture and design teams, product development, and QA test engineers, and was instrumental in increasing revenue through the successful launches of innovative new products. Early in his career, Chris was Manager of Network Management Software at ADC Telecommunications responsible for managing the software activities serving the company’s telephone, CATV, Internet, broadcast, and wireless customers. Chris is an expert in Agile, Waterfall, and Stage-Gate product development methodologies and is a Certified ScrumMaster. He is co-inventor of 7 U.S. Patents and holds a MBA in International Business and a BS in Engineering from University of Connecticut.
Rafael Fonseca, Vice President and Director Product Management
Rafael brings to Artel significant experience in executive management, product management and marketing, sales, and sales operations at established and startup companies. He has a passion for identifying new opportunities and solutions that leverage technology to help companies and organizations surpass their objectives. Previously, Rafael was Vice President of Product Management, Marketing, and Sales Engineering and member of the founding team at Cedar Point Communications, acquired by GENBAND specializing in technology, telecommunications, and multimedia IP solutions. Early in his career, Rafael was a member of Bell Laboratories technical team responsible for research and development in the areas of networking synchronization, adaptive echo cancellation, and equalization for data communication and optical networking systems. He has authored several articles and spoken at industry venues on the operational costs of delivering next generation services and other topics. Rafael holds a M.S.E.E. from Cornell University, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, and a MBA Certification from Wharton School of Business.
Joanne Pederson, Director, Sales Operations
Joanne Pederson has been with Artel since 1998. She has more than 25 years of experience in providing exceptional customer support services, sales order management, and sales process implementation. She has been instrumental in building highly efficient sales processes within the organization as well as maintaining excellent relationships with key customers. Joanne’s background in CRM management has enabled Artel to install world class forecasting processes resulting in highly accurate pipeline results.

Brian brings 36 years in the Media & Entertainment technology supplier industry to Artel with executive leadership spanning Sales & Marketing, Systems, Chief Strategy Officer, and Chief Technology Officer. Prior to joining Artel’s Advisory Board, Brian was Chief Strategy Officer for Imagine Communications and Chief Technology Officer for Harris Broadcast Communications. Brian brings a wealth of “Fortune 500” Operational experience to Artel from his career at Sony Broadcast, Tektronix/Grass Valley Group, Seachange International, Leitch Technology, and Harris Broadcast-Imagine Communications. Also, Brian has a deep Corporate Development background with over $1.5B of successful M&A activity.
Eric Pfaff, Board Director
Eric’s 36-year executive leadership experience in the Media Broadcast industry is a welcome champion to the Artel Advisory Board. Eric has been instrumental in the vision, entrepreneurialism, and application of leading-edge innovations in the video transport sector. Prior to joining the Artel Board of Advisors, as co-founder of Beers Enterprises / The Switch, Eric served as Executive Vice President since its 1991 inception and added the title of Treasurer in 2008. Eric also co-founded Beers Associates, a media systems integration solutions company, where he served as President from 1983 to 2001. In 1994, Eric co-founded and served as a partner in TX Media until 1998.
