DigiLink Troubleshooting Tips

All DigiLink chassis come equipped with diagnostic LEDS that can help determine the origin of many problems. This guide is for DigiLink chassis. For function module troubleshooting tips refer to the Quick Start Guides.

DL4000 Chassis

  • If the Status LED is Off power to the chassis in unavailable. Check the power source.
  • If the Status LED is Green power is applied to the chassis and no alarm condition exists with any of the installed power supplies or function modules.
  • If the Status LED is Yellow a minor alarm condition exists. Power is applied to the chassis and at least one minor alarm condition exists in the chassis or one of the installed power supplies or function modules.
  • If the Status is Red a major alarm exists. Power is applied to the chassis and at least one major alarm condition exists in the chassis or one of the installed power supplies or function modules. If this LED is Red and no other major alarm is indicated in a power supply module or function module. A failure on the backplane is indicated. Replace the DL4000 chassis.
  • If the A or B LED is Off power supply module is not installed in the corresponding slot or no power is applied to the chassis.
  • If the A or B LED is Green power is supplied to the corresponding power supply and no alarm condition exists.
  • If the A or B LED is Yellow a minor alarm exists and indicates the temperature is out of range. Check that adequate inlet and exhaust airflow is available.
  • If the A or B LED is Red a major alarm condition exists with the corresponding power supply module. The module can no longer provide power to the chassis. The problem must be corrected immediately.
    • Possible causes:
    • No input to the power supply. Check that input voltage is present.
    • Fan is running slow or stopped. Replace the power supply.
    • Internal failure of the power supply. Replace the power supply.
    • Communication failure with the backplane. Replace the power supply. If the problem persists, replace the DL4000 chassis.

DL4360

  • If the Status LED is Off power to the chassis is unavailable. Check the power source.
  • If the Status LED is Green power is applied to the chassis and no alarm condition exists with any of the installed power supplies, fan or function modules.
  • If the status LED is Yellow a minor alarm condition exists. Power is applied to the chassis and at least one minor alarm condition exists in the chassis or one of the installed power supplies, fan, or function modules.
  • If the Status LED is Red a major alarm condition exists. Power is applied to the chassis and at least one major alarm condition exists in the chassis or one of the installed power supplies, fan or function modules. If this is Red and no other major alarm is indicated replace the DL4360X chassis.
  • If PSA or PSB LED is Off the power supply module is not installed in the corresponding slot or no power is applied to the chassis.
  • If PSA or PSB LED is Green power is applied to the corresponding power supply and no alarm condition exists.
  • If the PSA or PSB LED is Yellow a minor alarm exists and indicates the temperature is out of range. Check that adequate inlet and exhaust airflow is available.
  • If the PSA or PSB LED is Red a major alarm condition exists with the corresponding power supply module. The power supply module can no longer provide power to the chassis.
    • Possible Causes:
    • No input to the power supply. Check that input voltage is present.
    • Fan is running slow or stopped. Replace the power supply.
    • Internal failure of the power supply. Replace the power supply.
    • Communication failure with the backplane. Replace the power supply. If the problem persists, replace the chassis.
  • If the Fan LED is Off the fan module is not installed or no power is applied to the chassis.
  • If the Fan LED is Green power is applied and no alarm condition exists.
  • If the Fan LED is Yellow a minor alarm exists indicating that the temperature is out of range. Check that adequate inlet and exhaust airflow is available.
  • If the Fan LED is Red one or more fans is not operating. Replace the fan tray.
  • If the MGMT LED is Off the management module is not installed in the slot or no power is applied to the chassis.
  • If the MGMT LED is Green normal operation.
  • If the MGMT LED is Yellow a minor alarm exists that indicates the temperature is out of range or that there is not adequate inlet and exhaust airflow is available.
  • If the MGMT LED is Red a major alarm condition exists.
  • If the Switch LED is Off the switch module is not installed in the slot or no power is applied to the chassis.
  • If the Switch LED is Green switch is in normal operation.
  • If the Switch LED is Yellow a minor alarm exists that indicates the temperature is out of range or that there is not adequate inlet and exhaust airflow is available.
